James Lowrey is the Global Head – Research & Analysis, Structured Trade & Commodity Finance at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Key responsibilities include managing a team of regional heads and analysts covering EMEA, Russia/CIS, America's, Asia, and Australia. James is jointly responsible for relationship and risk management for the banks global portfolio of customers across the commodity sector spanning oil, gas, mining, metals and agribusiness. Working with a team he originates and coordinates research and analysis globally, at industry, sector and client level, providing industry insights, thought leadership, risk analysis, deal structuring, strategic account planning and recommendations.

Prior to this role, James spent over eight years in Singapore as a senior executive in ANZ Banking Group’s global leadership team for natural resources spanning mining, metals, oil and gas industries.

Based in London, James has over 20 years’ experience in international banking and the financial services sector, successfully structuring complex local and cross border transactions spanning most key industries.
